What's your MLB post-season prediction?

25 Magazine staffer Alex Wells reports on her MLB post-season predictions. A Yankees win, really? You be the judge.

After a long 162 game season filled with web gems, missed calls, walk-offs, extra innings, rivalries and records, the post-season race still came down to the wire. While some teams clinched early, some teams fought it out all the way to the last day of the regular season. People stayed glued to sports center and contemplated every possible playoff scenario, but now the drama is over and the real fun begins.

With more drama, more competition and more plot turns than a telenovela, the post-season is what every fan looks forward to. So it finally here and like everyone else I’ve filled out my bracket and made my bets. And of course I have my Yankees winning it all. While they have never won as a wildcard team and the Phillies and Rays are having great seasons, I have all the faith in the world that the Yanks will pull it out and repeat as champs. Besides, would a real Yankee fan really choose anyone else? So fill out your bracket, break out your lucky jersey, and start performing those good luck fan rituals because all these teams are good and I have a feeling this post-season is going to take us for a wild ride.

The idiots guide to Super bowl XLIV. Alex Wells breaks down the biggest game of the year.

Who’s Playing?

New Orleans Saints v. Indianapolis Colts

Who We’re Paying Attention to:

Colts

Peyton Manning QB (#18)

He’s arguably the best quarterback in the game today and he’s a shoe in for the hall of fame. Calm, cool and collected, Peyton’s been here before and knows what it takes to win. He’s accurate and takes care of the football, throwing for 4500 yards and 33 touchdowns this season. The Saints have shown in the past that they can get to the quarterback. We’ll see if they can get to Manning.

Dwight Freeney DE (#93)

Of all the players taking part in the Super Bowl this Sunday, Freeney is probably the biggest. He’s listed as questionable for the big game because of a torn ligament in his right ankle. According to him, the ankle is headed in the “right direction,” yet he has missed multiple practices? Is he a game-time decision? We’ll just have to see.

Saints

Drew Brees QB (#9)

Drew Brees has actually been the better quarterback of the two this year. Throwing 34 touchdowns and 5 fewer interceptions than Manning. Unlike Manning, this is a new experience for Brees and the entire Saints franchise. Brees is the emotional leader of his team and will not only need to rally the troops but keep them focused in the middle of all the excitement of the Super Bowl. A high order? We’ll see if he can handle it.

Reggie Bush RB (#25)

And last but definitely not least, Reggie Bush. We all know this is the reason why most females are watching the Super Bowl this year, but he’s talented too! Bush has really stepped his game up during the Arizona game, averaging 16.8 yards per carry, but he stalled during the Minnesota game. Will he be able to kick it into gear?

What’s at Stake?

For the Saints this could be their Cinderella story. Coming from a wrecked superdome during Hurricane Katrina to the first championship in franchise history would be amazing. It’s the ultimate underdog story that you can’t help but root for. But they also have the hopes of all people affected by the natural disaster on their back. The pressure is on.

For the Colts, there’s not as much at stake. They’ve won championships and lost them. If they did win this would be the first championship in the post-Tony Dungy era and would be the second Colts championship with an African-American coach.

What to Watch Out For:

The Tim Tebow Commercial

For the past week this commercial has been talked about on all the major news networks. Supposedly, the commercial is about Tebow’s mother’s choice not to abort him. Organizations have been calling for CBS to pull it and people have been voicing their opinions left and right. No ones even scene the commercial yet! I don’t like my sport mixed with social issues either but lets all calm down.

Viewing Tips:

Don’t Miss a Second

It’s the last and biggest game of the season! If you miss the big play you might as well stop watching.

The Commercials are a Close Second to the Game

Super Bowl commercials are the best commercials on TV and you might only be able to see them once. Don’t miss any of them, they’re hilarious.

If Anything, Do Stuff During the Halftime Show

Well all know there hasn’t been a really good half-time show since Janet stripped. If anything, go to the bathroom and do laundry then.

Enjoy your super bowl XLIV!
